What in the World is Going on?
Mood:  cheeky
Topic: BCM International

In BCM (Bible Centered Ministries) International's world that is. For some time now I have been looking for ways to tell you about BCM International and some of their ministries. Sarah and I have been involved with this great mission for almost 13 years now and have grown to love the organization and the people in it. In my zeal to find ways to promote it on my blog, I totally forgot something that was as plain as the nose on my face - The BCM World Magazine! BCM puts out this fantastic magazine three times a year and publishes it for free on their website. They will soon be coming out with their spring edition, but here is a link to the great fall magazine that focused on short term missions.

Sarah and I have wanted to go on a short term mission trip to a foreign country for what seems like forever, but the Lord has not lead us in that direction yet. Perhaps, however, he is leading some of you to consider short term or even long term missions. As you peruse last fall's BCM World Magazine, won't you pray that God will use you in any way that He leads? Perhaps he wants you to go or, perhaps He wants you to send, by supporting someone prayerfully or financially. Whatever the case may be, please read and pray with an open heart. Click here or on either the above banner or below picture to get to the magazine.

Update on BCM International's Haiti Efforts
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: BCM International

Just received another email from Marty Windle, BCM (Bible Centered Ministry) International's President, regarding BCM's Haiti recovery effort. Here it is in full:

Greetings from the President’s Desk.

Several of you have been praying for the Haiti situation. Our missionary Tommy Gambrill has safely returned. We are currently reviewing our findings, and will be deciding the best course of action and strategy in the next short while. We have been able to connect with several local churches and pastors, as well as the director of the Seminary in Port au Prince. Our efforts will most likely focus on helping the local church as they rebuild in the coming days.

I will keep you updated as to our plans, and hopefully will have some pictures for you in the near future.

Blessings,

Marty Windle

BCM President

Thanks for all that you have done so far in assisting BCM International in this endeavor. Your prayers and contributions have been greatly appreciated. If you would like to contribute to BCM's Haiti relief fund or would like further information on BCM, please click on the BCM Haiti relief banner at the top of this post and it will take you to their website.

Ministry Focus - A Few Days Late!
Mood:  cool
Topic: BCM International

I am hopelessly behind with my daily theme posts. Maybe someday I'll catch up. For now, I wanted to catch you up on what is going on with BCM's Haiti Disaster Relief Fund. Here is a copy of an email that we recieved from BCM's president, Marty Windle, yesterday.

Good morning from the president’s desk.

As you know by now, Haiti is in the aftermath of one of the worst earthquakes recorded in the Western hemisphere in recent history. Reports of as many as 100,000 dead, many more hurt,  and countless homeless continue demonstrating the great need there.

BCM missionary Tommy Gambrill , whose ministry is BCM Disaster relief, traveled to the Dominican Republic where he met with our missionary Bolivar Cuevas. Together they developed the trip into neighboring Haiti, and Thursday afternoon Tommy and a team of four left Santo Domingo and entered Haiti. The latest report is that things are going well in the relief efforts in Port au Prince where they have been working together with our Haitian contacts, doctors, and pastors. Tommy and the team will return to the DR after 10 days, and then Tommy will return to the States. Upon his return, we will have up to date information and be able to decide how BCM can best partner with the local church in this disaster recovery.

Many of you have been praying for Haiti. Others have been participating in giving toward this need. BCM has already sent in some relief, and will be coordinating further actions together with sister organizations, our DR brethren, and Haitian local churches. For those of you that have been asking, we are receiving donations through the BCM website and local BCM offices, and coordinating these funds from the offices here.

Blessings,

Marty

I would encourage you to donate through BCM or through Compassion International if you haven't already. Both of them are reputable organizations that you can be assured will use all of the money donated for Haite relief. Just click on the names links above to go to there donation pages. If you wish to donate through BCM International, click on the large Haiti banner at the top of the page and it will take you to the Haiti donation page. On the Compassion page, click on the Haiti Relief Effort Donate Now button half way down the page.

Ministry Focus - BCM International - Day of Prayer and Fasting
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: BCM International

Many times folks ask how they can pray for us and our ministry. Sometimes it's not easy telling people the ins and outs of a ministry and how to exactly pray for things. I often have a hard time doing it.

I was thrilled when I got this recent email from the president of BCM International announcing the prayer requests for BCM's annual "Day of Prayer and Fasting". It made it very easy to write to you all and give you a list of things that you can pray for that has to do with our umbrella mission of BCM.

Some of these prayer requests involve things that would effect our ministry at Good News Mission. Others, although they may not have to do with our personal ministry, have to do with the ministry of other missionaries that are good friends and are near and dear to our hearts. We feel that all of BCM's ministries are important, however, so please, if you feel lead, join us on January 20th for a day of Fasting and Prayer.

Below, I have copied and pasted the letter that was sent. For some reason things don't always copy and paste well on my blog, but I think that you can easily read it. Thanks ahead of time for your prayers for our personal ministry and the ministry of BCM International.

Day of Prayer and Fasting

January 20, 2010

As we begin a new year it was determined that it would be good to start with a special day of prayer and fasting.

The thought is to allow all of us in the Global BCM Family to start 2010 with a renewed appreciation for God and His blessings and to bring our worship and thanksgiving to Him in a corporate manner.  For seventy-four years He has led this ministry.  He has provided the personnel and resources needed to touch hundreds of thousands, yea, perhaps millions of lives with the good news of Jesus Christ.  We come to celebrate His faithfulness and to offer our thanksgiving and praise.

On that day, we want to also invoke His continued blessing and ask Him to enable us, by His grace and power to continue to reach the nations of the world.  We recognize that we can do nothing in our own strength or initiative.

Prayer and the recognition of our dependence on God has been a part of BCM since its inception and it continues to this day.  That is why daily times of prayer are conducted here at our International Ministry Center coupled with a full morning of prayer on the third Wednesday of each month, spontaneous prayer requests and the weekly Prayer Link.   Our Asian Prayer Center in India hosts “prayer warriors” on a 24/7 basis.  BCM Tamil Nadu, India has a monthly day of prayer as do many other BCM global entities.  Prayer is part of who we are.

So, on January 20 we hope that you will set aside a significant portion of your day or evening to pray.  Get together with your co-workers and invite your friends and supporters to also join with you.  Let’s bombard the throne room of heaven with our praises and petitions.

ITEMS  FOR  PRAYER

1.      Pray for our global ministry – that we will be effective in making Christ known.   Colossians 4:2-6

2.      Ask the Lord to send us more missionaries.  Our greatest needs are in the USA, Canada, Europe,

      Africa and Brazil Matthew 9:36-38

3.      Our International Board of Directors, President Marty Windle, Regional and Country Leaders

need wisdom as they plan for the future development of our ministry.  They are asking the Lord to

      make His plan known.

4.   Pray that the Lord will meet the support need of all of our missionaries, associate missionaries and

short-termers.  Many are experiencing some shortage due to the collapse of the global economy.

5.   Pray also that all of the “projects” will be funded.  Camp construction in West Ukraine, in Iquitos,

Peru, and the purchase of a camp/conference center in the Republic of Ireland are just a few of

      our major projects.

6.   Give thanks for those who pray for us, support us and assist us as volunteers.

7.   Prayer for ministry

      -     Master Trainer Conference in The Netherlands – January 20-23  (at least 11 nations are

             represented)

      -     Holy Land Tour – February 28 - March 11, 2010

      -     Camps and other evangelistic outreaches in the Southern Hemisphere

      -     Bible Clubs, school ministry – evangelistic and discipleship ministry

      -     Church planting efforts around the world

8.   Pray for your continent, country and area of ministry.

Let’s join our hearts together in worship and prayer expecting great things from God.

MartinWindleBEvansYours, for His glory,

Rev. Martin Windle                                                                             Rev. Bob Evans

President                                                                                             International Representative

Ministry Focus - BCM International - The Orissa Project
Mood:  chillin'
Topic: BCM International

One of my New Year's resolutions was to set aside one blog day a week to tell you about our ministry at Good News Ministries and about the ministry of the mission that we are under BCM International. I am planning for Sundays to be that day. I have already shared three short videos about BCM's core ministries, but today I wanted to be a little more focused as to one thing that BCM does.

Although BCM is a small mission compared to some, it does a tremendous work with disaster relief and special projects. About three years ago, Christmas day 2007 to be exact, Hindu radicals destroyed many Christian churches and the homes of many Christians in Orrissa, India. As you will see in the following video, the Christian's there continue to be persecuted. This video will tell you a little about what BCM is doing to help the persecuted Christians there.
