Men's Monday Meme - Are We Too Police Happy?
Mood:  not sure
Topic: Men's Monday Meme

Just got back from eating Mexican with some friends. This wasn't a planned get together however, it was out of necessity because half of the group was just getting back from the emergency room and we all had missed supper. Let me start from the beginning.

I got a call about 4pm from one of Sarah's ladies. She was out of breath and I could hardly understand what she was saying. She wanted me to go and check on her daughter (also one of Sarah's ladies) who lived down the street  because the ambulance was in front of her house. I quickly gave the phone to Sarah and ran down to check on her. The ambulance wasn't there for the daughter, however, but for the 13 year old granddaughter. It seems that the little eleven year old that lives behind them had grabbed her and beat her up while she and a friend were playing in the back yard. Her mom was in hysterics and they were putting her on a stretcher to take her to the hospital. I called Sarah to come right away because I knew grandma would be getting there soon, and since they are ladies that she disciples, I thought Sarah should come down to meet her. I offered to watch the rest of the kids up at the house. They could play with the boys while we waited on some news.

Well, it seems that the girl will be fine, but since the ambulance was called, the police came. The mother is going to press charges. This is really bothering me. I was in fights, got black eyes, had neighborhood squabbles, and never once do I remember the police getting involved. We would always work it out between the kids, or maybe between the parents. This has happened so many times this past year. It seems like every little push and shove is followed by a call to the cops. Here is/are my Men's Monday Meme question(s) of the week -

Do you think people have become too cop happy these days? What happened to working out neighborly disputes between ourselves? I know times have changed, but have they changed that much? Am I missing something?

Let me remind everyone of the rules -

  1. This is a man's meme, so the answers must be the answers from a man. Either the man can answer on his blog, or a wife can interview her husband for her blog. However, if the wife puts it on her blog, she must stay true to what her husband said.
  2. You are encouraged to put one of the Men's Monday Meme buttons found to the left on your blog. Just copy the code below the button of your choice. The more folks who link, the more readers you may have to visit your blog.
  3. You may answer the question any time during the week up through Monday, March 8. After you answer the question, add the address to your post to the Mr.Linky below. If you could, please only add the direct link to the post to make it easier for readers to find the entry.
  4. My answer along with a new question will be posted next Monday. The new Mr. Linky will be added at midnight Monday night.

And here's the new Mr. Linky -

Homeschool Problems
Mood:  caffeinated

****Tim-tossing and turning in bed. Restless dreams are dancing inside of his mind. Sarah gently shakes his shoulder. He sits bolt upright in bed, sweat is pouring down his face. "What! What! What is it! Are the kids OK?!" he shouts. Sarah softly responds "It's all right honey. You were having one of your nightmares again." "What was it this time?" asks Tim wearily. Sarah answers with a quizzical look on her face "I couldn't quite make out what you were saying, but I think you were talking to your crew friends again." She goes on to say "You kept mumbling over and over again something like...

Lapbooks, Schmapbooks, Part 2! Do you want some free Lapbooks?
Mood:  incredulous

Do you remember my Lapbook Schmapbooks post a few months back? Well, guess what? A fellow TOS Homeschool Crew friend of mine, Tristan, at Our Busy Homeschool is having a great giveaway! A super membership to a great lapbook (plus more!) company called Hands of a Child.

The super membership will give you discounts to all of their lapbooks, PLUS, a bunch of free lapbooks along the way. They have lapbooks for e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g! Even if you aren't a homeschooler, your kids would love them just because they are fun. Aren't we all looking for something that's educational and fun for our kids to do instead of video games and TV?

You can check out my Lapbook Schmapbooks review by clicking here or above.

You can check out the info about the TOS Homeschool Crew by clicking here  or above.

You can check out Hands of a Child by clicking here or above.

Oh my goodness, there's so much clicking that I need to hush up and let you click away! Have fun!

Date Nights? What are those?!?
Mood:  happy
Topic: Family

Yes, I know what a date night is, but unfortunately Sarah and I don't experience them much anymore. With our three hoodlums...err...I mean precious boys, it's hard to find time to get away much less find a baby sitter.

Thankfully Sarah and I have some good friends that don't mind John Allen's teenage attitude, Joshua's asperger's, and Jacob's terrible twos that have stretched into his fours. I know, our children are a challenge at times but two of Sarah's ladies ~ a mother and her adult daughter ~ don't seem to mind, and the boys love them back. Thank you Lauri and Ann!

Sarah and I decided to go on a hot date to Applebees and Wal-Mart. Now, I know what you are thinking, but even Wal-Mart can be considered a hot date when you go minus kids!

And Applebees was delicious. It was certainly a change of pace from fast food play places. I traded in my frozen burger patty for a steak, my fries for good mashed potatoes and the lettuce, tomato, and pickle for steamed broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. We even got APPETIZERS! Can you believe it!

We sat and talked and relaxed without interuptions, or mission phones ringing, or knocks on the door, or TV's blaring...well, you get the picture. We did get a couple of cell phone calls. We left them on for the babysitters, but one or two others called as well.

Sarah and I used to go out on monthly dates, but that was before homeschool. We have often thought of going back go them, but it just didn't seem possible before. Now that we have some reliable people that our kids love, I think we might do some more of this dating.

Hmmm...sounds good to me!
