You've Got To See This!
Mood:  incredulous
Topic: FamiliesAgain Freebies

OK. Now that I'm calm after last night's internet browser crash, I can tell you what that midnight post was all about.

You may have heard of webcams that show famous places such as the Eiffel Tower, but have you heard of nature cams? I found out about them a year or so ago when I got hooked on watching a female eagle sitting on her eggs. You can find nature cams for almost anything. Today Jacob and I watched an underwater cam showing Bass and other fish swimming by. Click here to find cameras from all over the world pointing at eagles, hummingbirds, bears, deer, boar, fish...almost any animal you can think of.

Our latest craze is watching Molly the Barn Owl and her husband McGee. Molly is sitting on five eggs that are due to hatch any time now. In fact, one is overdue! When I checked a few minutes ago, it still hadn't hatched, but almost 10,000 (yes, that's a one with five zeros) people were watching! McGee isn't usually there, but if you catch the live feed at just right time, you can see him bring in some grub for Molly to eat. The video that I posted last night was of Molly gulping a whole mouse down at one time.

This video shows her downing a rabbit all at once. Don't worry, the rabbit is dead, and there is no blood or guts but it may be a bit graphic for some. What's interesting is that while this was being filmed, Carlos, the great person who put up this camera equipped owl box over two years ago, was doing an online chat session with an elementary school classroom. Most of the video is just of Molly peacefully sitting on her eggs with the voices of the kids asking the questions while Carlos answers them. The kids ask some great questions, and you find out a lot of interesting information about Barn Owls. Toward the end of the video, however, at about minute 26, the action begins to liven up when Molly picks up the rabbit that she had stored away, and begins to swallow it whole.  You have to see it to believe it!

Just click on the picture below to watch the video, and, don't forget to click on the link above to watch Molly live. One word of warning, though. It could get addicting!

I had a whole post written out and almost ready to publish when, for some reason, Firefox crashed. Of course, I lost everything. It's the story of my life. Here is the big thing that I was going to post. I'll explain what's it's all about later.

Men's Monday Meme - Are We Too Police Happy?
Mood:  not sure
Topic: Men's Monday Meme

Just got back from eating Mexican with some friends. This wasn't a planned get together however, it was out of necessity because half of the group was just getting back from the emergency room and we all had missed supper. Let me start from the beginning.

I got a call about 4pm from one of Sarah's ladies. She was out of breath and I could hardly understand what she was saying. She wanted me to go and check on her daughter (also one of Sarah's ladies) who lived down the street  because the ambulance was in front of her house. I quickly gave the phone to Sarah and ran down to check on her. The ambulance wasn't there for the daughter, however, but for the 13 year old granddaughter. It seems that the little eleven year old that lives behind them had grabbed her and beat her up while she and a friend were playing in the back yard. Her mom was in hysterics and they were putting her on a stretcher to take her to the hospital. I called Sarah to come right away because I knew grandma would be getting there soon, and since they are ladies that she disciples, I thought Sarah should come down to meet her. I offered to watch the rest of the kids up at the house. They could play with the boys while we waited on some news.

Well, it seems that the girl will be fine, but since the ambulance was called, the police came. The mother is going to press charges. This is really bothering me. I was in fights, got black eyes, had neighborhood squabbles, and never once do I remember the police getting involved. We would always work it out between the kids, or maybe between the parents. This has happened so many times this past year. It seems like every little push and shove is followed by a call to the cops. Here is/are my Men's Monday Meme question(s) of the week -

Do you think people have become too cop happy these days? What happened to working out neighborly disputes between ourselves? I know times have changed, but have they changed that much? Am I missing something?

Let me remind everyone of the rules -

  1. This is a man's meme, so the answers must be the answers from a man. Either the man can answer on his blog, or a wife can interview her husband for her blog. However, if the wife puts it on her blog, she must stay true to what her husband said.
  2. You are encouraged to put one of the Men's Monday Meme buttons found to the left on your blog. Just copy the code below the button of your choice. The more folks who link, the more readers you may have to visit your blog.
  3. You may answer the question any time during the week up through Monday, March 8. After you answer the question, add the address to your post to the Mr.Linky below. If you could, please only add the direct link to the post to make it easier for readers to find the entry.
  4. My answer along with a new question will be posted next Monday. The new Mr. Linky will be added at midnight Monday night.

And here's the new Mr. Linky -

Homeschool Problems
Mood:  caffeinated

****Tim-tossing and turning in bed. Restless dreams are dancing inside of his mind. Sarah gently shakes his shoulder. He sits bolt upright in bed, sweat is pouring down his face. "What! What! What is it! Are the kids OK?!" he shouts. Sarah softly responds "It's all right honey. You were having one of your nightmares again." "What was it this time?" asks Tim wearily. Sarah answers with a quizzical look on her face "I couldn't quite make out what you were saying, but I think you were talking to your crew friends again." She goes on to say "You kept mumbling over and over again something like...
