I Can't Believe It! I Won!
Mood:  surprised
Topic: General

I won in the Best Homeschool Dad Blog Category of the Homeschool Blog Awards!

Apparently there was some error in the tabulation of the votes! They had to count the hanging chads Laughing. Really, I am thrilled. I found myself reading the other nominated blogs and learning from them. Some of their blogs look so much better. I was just happy to be among them. Soon, on The Homeschool Blog Post, they will post all of the blogs that were nominated. Please continue to visit them. They are great!

Thank you all for voting for me! And, thanks goes to The Homeschool Blog Post for having these awards and for all of the hard work that they put into them every year. Thanks also to all of the companies that donated prizes.

I will keep you posted as to what the prizes are that I won. I know that there are a couple of magazine subscriptions, and one of those neat pictures where an artist takes a photo and then repaints it on canvas. Since all of my readers were so instrumental in voting for me, I will let you all know what else as I learn about them.

Ah! The Joys of Living in Middle Tennessee.
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: General

Today was windy and rainy, but last week, right before Thanksgiving, it was beautiful. In fact, while I was out walking the yard I snapped (do you still "snap" when you use digital cameras?) a few pictures of my still blooming flowers.

Late in November! Sarah's everlasting rose bush still had blooms on it!

I was shocked to even find blooms on my azalea. They usually only bloom in the spring.

That would have never happened up north. The weather may not be as nice as it was in Florida, but we do have the changing of the seasons here. Notice the trees in the background of the rose picture. Winter is short, though. We will be out in the yard working again come February.

Ah. Yes. The joys of living in Tennessee!

The 25...er,,,24 Days of Christmas!
Mood:  lyrical
Topic: Family

If you have been reading my posts since last year at this time, then you will recall the tradition I began to celebrate Advent. We are still planning on having four advent nights this year, but we are combining it with a great idea that I just saw for an advent calendar. A blogger friend at 3+3=Our Full House  had a great link on her blog for creating advent envelopes with special family activities inside for each day.  If you accept the challenge, you are encouraged to post pictures on their Flickr page. Here's the link. We took the challenge, but for us it will be the 24 Days of Christmas. Unless, of course, you count the small birthday party that we had today for our now nine year old Jacob! Anyway, let me know if you are going to participate. We're starting tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Is Mind Flex Real, or Is It fake? You Decide!

One of my fellow TOS Crew members, today, asked what we though about Mind Flex. It seems that her son wanted it for Christmas but she saw a video on YouTube about it and didn't know if it was real or not. She didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that wasn't legitimate. So, she asked our opinion of it.

Being the inquisitive person that I am, I looked it up on YouTube myself. Below is what I found. The boy doing the review seems very intelligent and ingenious. It looks like he has done many video reviews and even has his own website. I'll bet he was homeschooled! Anyway, although the video was well done, I'm not convinced.

What do you all think? I want your opinion. Have you used Mind Flex? What do you think about it after watching the video? Let me know. You can leave a comment on Facebook, a Tweet on Twitter, join my BlogFrog discussion, or just leave a comment below. I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say. Is it real or is it Memorex - er...I mean fake? Here's the video.
