Lapbooks, Schmapbooks, Part 2! Do you want some free Lapbooks?
Mood:  incredulous
Topic: FamiliesAgain Freebies

Do you remember my Lapbook Schmapbooks post a few months back? Well, guess what? A fellow TOS Homeschool Crew friend of mine, Tristan, at Our Busy Homeschool is having a great giveaway! A super membership to a great lapbook (plus more!) company called Hands of a Child.

The super membership will give you discounts to all of their lapbooks, PLUS, a bunch of free lapbooks along the way. They have lapbooks for e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g! Even if you aren't a homeschooler, your kids would love them just because they are fun. Aren't we all looking for something that's educational and fun for our kids to do instead of video games and TV?

You can check out my Lapbook Schmapbooks review by clicking here or above.

You can check out the info about the TOS Homeschool Crew by clicking here  or above.

You can check out Hands of a Child by clicking here or above.

Click on Tristan's Our Busy Homeschool blog to find out how to get your name in the drawing by clicking here or above.

Oh my goodness, there's so much clicking that I need to hush up and let you click away! Have fun!

Some Really Neat Free Things for Your Family - Check Them Out!
Topic: FamiliesAgain Freebies

As you all know, one of the reasons that I signed up for NaBloPoMo and pledged to write at least one post a day for the month of November, was because I wanted to get back to my roots. Although I love and will continue to write reviews for the TOS Homeschool Crew, I realized that I was neglecting the initial values that I had set for my blog of Faith, Family and Ministry. I wanted to get back to writing posts that would help strengthen  families, mine and others.

Recently I was reintroduced to CBH Ministries (formerly known as the Children's Bible Hour). We have used their devotional products before, and really liked them. When I was looking over their recently redesigned webpage, I was pleasantly surprised that they were now providing direct links to two of their fantastic free products that I felt would fit in well with the goal of this blog.

The first was Keys for Kids. We have used this great children's devotional in the past, that I knew you could either subscribe to or download for free from the CBH website. What I didn't know was that they now had a link that would take you directly to the devotional for the day. If you click on the above Keys for Kids logo, it should take you straight to their page. It should automatically change, so keep checking back every day. So that you won't have to keep looking back for this post, I have included a link over in the left hand column for you to click on daily.

The other free link is for their half hour children's radio program Down Gilead Lane. We have never listened to it before, but if it is half as good as Keys for Kids, then it should be great. I am looking forward to listening to it with the kids.

Although I am very weak in this area, I really feel that daily devotions are essential to a healthy relationship with God. I am really excited to be able to provide these links for you and am looking forward to reconnecting with them during our daily family time. Don't forget to check back here regularly to get the new devotional and broadcast!

Super Star Game Giveaway!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: FamiliesAgain Freebies
A fellow blogger, and fellow homeschool Crew member, Debbie Lott, is having a game giveaway on her blog, Debbie's Homeschool Corner. Debbie is a speech pathologist and homeschool mom who has created several games to help reinforce the things that her children are learning. She sells these great games on Currclick, and is giving away one of them via a drawing on August 20th. Check out her games by clicking here, then click here to go to her blog and enter the drawing. I love history, so her historic games caught my eye right off the bat, but I decided to try for the Silly Snail - Parts of Speech game. I'll be praying that God will choose the person who needs the game the most to win! Remember, we are all home educators, whether we send our kids to school, or teach them ourselves. Check out these great games to supplement your child's education today!

A fellow blogger friend of mine (and fellow Crew member!) is having a great giveaway on her site. The giveaways are for some "eebees" vidoes and some "Out of the Box" games. She has 13 (Thirteen) ways that you can get your name entered into the drawing. Just click on her blog logo above and find out how you can win. (But I got their first...I wonder if she puts an extra chance in if you're an early bird...mmm)

Easter Activities
Mood:  lazy
Topic: FamiliesAgain Freebies

Finally, after I promised to do this at least monthly, I am posting some more freebies. Sorry it has taken so long. As you can see by my emoticon above, I have been lazy of late.

In my last post I mentioned that I had found some Easter and lent activities. Lent began a couple of weeks ago, but the Lent activities can be easily adapted to fit your schedule.

Currclick has a great free Lent download with ways the whole family can celebrate Easter.

Listed below are several other sites that have good Easter crafts. Some have secular as well as religious crafts, so be warned if you shy away from those type things.

DLTK was a site that I used often for all of our ministry Christmas crafts. It has some great easter crafts as well.

First-School is a site that is similar (if not related) to DLTK's site. It has crafts geared more toward preschool age children, but it looks like they could be easily modified for older kids as well.

A site that just goes by www.coloring.ws has some great coloring pages. It, again, looks a lot like DLTK's page. I think they are all affiliated.

1stopkidscrafts is a great site for older kids with more advanced crafts and recipes including Rice Crispies Easter baskets (if you aren't against Easter baskets).

I'm sure that there are many more sites that have great ideas for celebrating Easter with your family. These are just a few that I found. Whether you choose to do your own search or use one of the above sites doesn't matter. What does matter is that you find some way to celebrate the true meaning of Easter with your children. Don't get me wrong, we do the Easter egg thing, too, and sometimes find ourselves too focused on the secular and not as much on the Christian. This year let's all pledge to do better at spending more time as a family remembering the sacrifice that Jesus made by suffering a cruel death for our sins and miraculously rising again three days later which is (to coin a Christmas term) the real reason for the season.
