I Feel Pretty...
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Homeschool Product Review

I feel pretty,
Oh so pretty,
I feel pretty
and witty
and bright

And I pity
Any...well...um...
I feel BeeYoutiful too!

No, that isn't a typo. BeeYoutiful is a wonderful little company that is committed to "Healthy Living for the Real World" They sent our family a product that they call "Tummy Tuneup" to use. Tummy Tuneup is a capsule that is promoted to settle upset stomachs and keep you from getting stomach bugs that go around. What really caught my eye, however, was that the main ingredients are all Pro-biotics. You know, those things that a famous celebrity is advertising that are supposed to be in some new fangled yogurt? Supposedly this new yogurt is supposed to help you with your irritable bowel syndrome among other things. Well, you know that I am approaching 50 years old, and that...ummm...syndrome is beginning to effect me a bit. So, I was more interested in that part of it than the upset stomach part.

Actually, Tummy Tuneup does contain 8 different pro-biotics that are the opposite of anti-biotics. I have learned so much during this Crew year that I had never known before and this little tidbit is one of the things that I learned. It seems that there are good bacteria and bad bacteria in our bodies. Now, when there is a balance of the good and the bad, then our bodies are OK. Unfortunately, the refining in some of our food products is done by chemicals that destroy good bacteria that we need. On top of that, the increased prescriptions of anti-biotics effects our bodies as well. These antibiotics are not discriminatory. They destroy both good bacteria and bad bacteria. That worsens the problems. That's why we need pro-biotics (good bacteria) to supplement  our diet.  They help our digestive system to work better.

Well, let me tell you that they work. At first, I did feel a little funny after I took them. But, after all, they are getting your system back into some regularity.  What the pro-biotics are actually doing is destroying bad toxins that have been stored in our body. That process was making me feel a little queasy (not really sick, but queasy) for the first couple of days. After that, I began to feel great. It was getting my digestive system and intestines back in shape again.  And, with a family that has a history of colon cancer on both sides of the family, having a healthy, happy colon is important to me Smile! Tummy Tuneup can also be used to stave off the bad stomach bugs that seem to flourish during all seasons of the year these days. I am really pleased with this product!

In fact, I am really pleased with this company! They have been great to work with (each Crew member had a choice as to what product they wanted) and their product was really good.

Now they recommend taking one to two capsules three times daily for adults and 1/2 to 1 capsule for children. Even infants can take Tummy Tuneup. However, I only took one capsule a day and saw improvement in my health. Others only use Tummy Tuneup when they feel sickness coming on. And the prices are very good. A 60 capsule bottle is only $18. That would last me almost two months!

As I said before, I really recommend this company. They are a Christian run organization and are very nice to work with. To find out more about this company and their other products, just click here or on any one of the hi-lighted links above. As I mentioned before, other TOS Crew members reviewed other products. You can find out what they had to say about the products that they reviewed  by clicking here. And now, since I just reviewed and recommended a health product for the whole family, I'll close by saying...Happy, Healthy, Homeschooling.

As a member of the TOS Homeschool Crew BeeYoutiful sent me a free 60 capsule bottle of Tummy Tuneup to try out and review on my blog.

Check this out! What a hoot!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: General
What a hoot this is. This San Fransisco film was done just days before the 1906 Earthquake. Notice all of the people looking in wonder at the camere wondering what in the world it is. Obviously this is not something that was usual back in those days. It is really funny, but sad as well. This area was destroyed by fire due to the earthquake. It's also sad to look at all of the people, epsecially the children, and wonder how many of them survived. Otherwise it's a fascinating look at life in a large city during the early part of the last century.

Men's Monday Meme - OH NO! I messed up!
Mood:  d'oh
Topic: Men's Monday Meme

I messed up! I really did. I could say that ministry got in the way, and it kind of did, but really I have no excuse. I just didn't get around to posting a new Men's Monday Meme question this week.

So, this week I'm posting two questions that will cover this week and next. You can choose which question you want to answer which week. The only difference is I will leave this Mr. Linky up for both weeks. You just sign the Mr. Linky twice if you want to answer both questions. So, without further adieu, here are the two questions.

Question Number 1 - Because this is Mother's Day, I thought I would put a question up that is, in a way, in honor of mothers. The answer may not be a mother at all, but since there are folks in life whose mother was not active in their growing up years, then I thought I would phrase the question a little differently. Here goes.

Who is the woman that has made the most impact in your life and why?

It could be your mother, your wife, a sister or other relative, a teacher...whoever.

Question Number 2 - I've been thinking a lot about life lately. I guess reading about the Vogel's bicycle trips have got me to thinking about priorities. The Vogel's are a homeschooling family who just decided to get out of the rat race and live their dreams now instead of waiting for their twin boys to grow up. They wanted to share the adventure with their boys and make real memories that they could cherish forever. Their first adventure was taking a year to bicycle through the United States and Mexico. They bought a three seater bike called a triple (yes they make such things) for Dad and the two eight year old boys (yes I said EIGHT) and a single touring bike for Mom. Both bikes had bicycle trailers attached. After that was completed, they decided to leave a year later for an even bigger adventure - taking two and a half years to bike the Pan-Am highway from Alaska to Argentina! They wrote a journal of their first trip that you can find here and they are almost two years into their Pan-Am trip. You can follow that trip by clicking here

The Vogels really promote family adventures. They encourage you to live your dream now, whether it's a little dream like to plant a large garden or a larger dream like building a cabin in the woods or hiking the Appalachian trail or, even traveling across the country.

So, I've been thinking a lot about what our dream is. Of course, you know that the Tinkel's are a very unconventional family to begin with. We are full time missionaries who have three very unique son's, so thinking about these types of things isn't out of the ordinary for us. However, it is still thought provoking. In the weeks to come, I'll be writing about what our Great American Dream is and how we are preparing for it. In the meantime, I want to know what yours is. So, here is question number two.

What is your American dream? What is it that you have always wanted to do, but always put off until "after the kids are grown" or "when I retire"? Tell us why you don't think you can live that dream now.

Okay, now that you've read the two questions, let me remind you of the rules:

  1. This is a man's meme, so the answers must be the answers from a man. Either the man can answer on his blog, or a wife can interview her husband for her blog. However, if the wife puts it on her blog, she must stay true to what her husband said.
  2. You are encouraged to put one of the Men's Monday Meme buttons found to the left on your blog. Just copy the code below the button of your choice. The more folks who link, the more readers you may have to visit your blog.
  3. You may answer the question any time during the week up through next Monday. After you answer the question, add the address to your post to the Mr.Linky below. If you could, please only add the direct link to the post to make it easier for readers to find the entry.
  4. My answer along with a new question will be posted next Monday. The new Mr. Linky will be added at midnight Monday night or sometime within the next couple of days after that Wink.

And here's the new Mr. Linky:

Never Fear - Call A Story is Here!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: BCM International

Do you have kids that always complain about having "nothing to do"?

Do  you wish that there was something more for you kids to listen to other than the ridiculous gibberish that's on the TV and radio these days?

Do you long for yet another way for your children to hear and internalize the Word of God?

Never Fear - Call A Story is here!

Many years ago, BCM Canada (the Canadian branch of the mission we are with) began working with a man from California who for years recorded and made available Bible stories that you could put on a small answering machine type device to be played after children dialed a number. He called it "Call-A-Story". When the old tape machine type answering machines became obsolete, BCM Canada began putting the stories on CD's to be put on computer answering devices. They realized, however, that even that had it's limits.

Now, they have reworked the stories to be a little more modern and have put them on the internet! And, it used to be that you were at the mercies of the people programing the answering machines as to when a new story was put out. Now you can listen to as many stories as you want, when you want them! They are totally neat. Hear is the web address - http://www.bcmintl.ca/CallAStory.php Dial...er...I mean click in today for a new and fun way for your kids to hear Bible stories.
