Mom's Surgery was Postponed!
Mood: not sure Topic: Family Sarah's Mom's pacemaker surgery was postponed until early tomorrow morning. Please pray for Mom, of course, but also for Sarah. Sarah is super tired right now. She has been traveling back and forth from the hospital and hasn't been sleeping well at night at all. Thanks again for all of your prayers. Wednesday, 23 February 2011
Update on Sarah's Mom
Mood: a-ok Topic: Family Sarah's mom is going to have a pacemaker put in tomorrow morning. Should take about an hour and then a day of observation. Hopefully she will be home Friday but will need someone to stay around and help out for a few days. Don't know what the boys and I will do. I didn't bring all of our homeschool books with us and we really can't miss another week of therapies. So, we'll probably go home early next week. Thanks for all of your prayers. I'll update on everything tomorrow. Tuesday, 22 February 2011
Trying to get back to some normalcy!
Mood: a-ok Topic: Compassion International After the events of the last couple of weeks, I've decided it's time to try to get back to some normalcy in my life. I know that there are folks that have been reading this blog and praying for my family and the different situations. I really appreciate all of your prayers. But, it's time to try to get back into a routine. I need to write more about outside things and stop focusing on myself. What better way to get your focus off of yourself than to think about others that are far less fortunate. And, is there a better organization to do that than Compassion International? Here's a short video that talks about an aspect of Compassion International that most folks don't know about - their Leadership Development Program (LDP). Compassion takes the brightest students that have gone through their program and invites them to apply for the LDP program in which Compassion will help pay the LDP students way through college. College is something that would be unheard of for most kids that come from the areas where Compassion works but not with the kids that Compassion works with. Take a look at this video done by the 1000th student to graduate through the LDP program. If you wish to know more about Compassion International or the LDP program just click on one of the hi-lighted links above. Monday, 21 February 2011
Update on Sarah's Mom and Thanks for All of Your Prayers
Mood: a-ok Topic: Family I think I missed posting yesterday. Oh well. With everything that's happened the past couple of weeks it really doesn't seem so important to make sure I post something every day. Sarah's mom is still in the hospital. They've put her on some new medicine and they are going to do more tests tomorrow and shock her heart back into rhythm. If everything works then they may let her come home tomorrow. If it doesn't, they may have to put in a pacemaker. Thank you for your continued prayer. It's not open heart surgery, but a pacemaker still sounds a little scary. I finally made it to Sarah's mom and grandma's house after John Allen's bout with sickness on Saturday night. We rested Sunday and then got up this morning, packed, and drove the hour and a half to Oak Ridge. Had a good visit with Mom in the hospital and then a good time out with Sarah and the boys for supper and a trip to our favorite place - Wal Mart - for groceries. It was good and very therapeutic to be together as a family. The boys and I have Granny duty tomorrow while Sarah stays with Mom for her tests and procedure. I'll keep you all posted. Again, thank you so much for your prayers. Saturday, 19 February 2011
Update on the Family
Mood: not sure Topic: Family The Dr. said that Sarah's mom's heartrate was very abnormal. It increases and decreases at times when it should be regular. They are going to try a new medicine and if that doesn't work they may have to put in a pacemaker. Please continue to pray. In the meantime, we thought we were on the mend from the flu, until this evening. John Allen has begun to throw up. Previously we have just had aches, pains and congestion. This is something new. We have had a busy day, so I am praying that it is just from all of the activity. Please pray for that as well.
