I'm About to Swag My Way to Amazon, com! Again!

Search & Win

I know that I've mentioned swagbucks before, but I really want to rave again about them. I have only been doing swagbucks for about two months and I already have earned $20 in Amazon gift cards. How do you win swagbucks? It's simple! All you have to do is use their toolbar to do your searches. When you search, you win. You don't always win, but you win a lot of the time, and there are various amounts that you might win. I have earned from 5 to over 25 bucks just by doing a search. And there are other ways to win as well. You can search for codes where you earn extra swagbucks. You can take surveys. There are all sorts of ways. I generally just do the searches. Every once in a while I will go on a search for special swag codes, but those are few and far between. After you earn so many bucks, you turn them in for all kinds of prizes. I have always chosen the Amazon gift cards, but you can choose hundreds if not thousands of different items, gift cards, and more at a variety of swagbuck prices. You can download their tool bar to do the searches if you would like, but you don't have to. You can just go to their site to do it. It really is easy and a lot of fun and very rewarding. Just click on the banner above to join all of the fun.

Memories from the Past
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: General

I was reading Facebook this evening. A writer friend of mine was commenting on seeing fireflies for the first time. They've lived in Lancaster for a few years, but are usually very busy in the summers and are away from home. She left a beautiful writer's type description of God's great creatures ~ fireflies.

I remember when we used to live in the "County Home". Yes I'm old enough to remember those things and no I didn't live there as a client. My parents were the superintendents of what was known as the old folks home. We lived in the superintendents quarters. It was a joy for a little five year old boy. I had a couple dozen grandmas and grandpas. I even had a great play mate. A 40 something mentally retarded man named Glen. We did everything together during the couple of years that myfamily  lived there. I didn't have any prejudices or fear of being around Glen. He was a great friend.

I remember one summer when the fireflies were abundant. Mom and Dad had bought me one of those plastic bug catchers. In the late 60's those were brand new and pretty rare. I remember running around late into the evening trying to catch those shining bugs. I don't remember whether I had ever noticed them before or not, but during that beautiful northern Indiana night, they were amazing. We had a large side yard that was full of them. I recall putting grass inside for them to "feed" upon. I don't know how many actually lived but it was fun chasing and collecting.

For some reason that's one of those memories from my childhood that stand out. Some people remember more than others of their past. A few have very clear recollections of events from their childhood. I believe most of us have only bits and pieces our childhood that God has helped us store in our minds. Most are special memories. Memories that cause a warm feeling inside when ever they are conjured up. Some may only come to mind once or twice a year, but, each time they are, they are recalled just as clearly as the time before. This was one of those recollections that had been pushed back into the depths of my brain until God required it to be due again. Then, tonight, it once more gave me that warm fuzzy feeling inside. Thanks God.

Mood:  a-ok
Topic: BCM International

BCM International is looking for help for this summers camping season. They have dozens of camps all over the world. Some camps are still looking for workers. Check this video then check out CBM International's website by clicking here. By the way, BCM is the mission that Sarah and I work under. They're great people! You'd have a blast.

Men's Monday Meme - Happy Father's Day!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Men's Monday Meme

My dad passed away almost nine years ago now. I miss my dad. When I was growing up, Dad and I weren't as close as we could have been. I loved Dad and I knew that he loved me. It was just that he was very busy. Busy taking care of our needs and busy doing what God wanted him to do. He was a bivocational pastor. He worked full time during the week, then pastored a church on the weekend. It wasn't until after I graduated that Dad and I became really close. We talked about marital relationships. We talked about life. I could call him if I had any problems and he would always help in any way that he could. I loved my father and still miss him terribly. I would have to say he was the most influential, caring, human man that I've had in my life. Which, leads me to this week's question.

Who is/was the most influential man in your life? Tell us about him?

Here's the rules:

  1. This is a man's meme, so the answers must be the answers from a man. Either the man can answer on his blog, or a wife can interview her husband for her blog. However, if the wife puts it on her blog, she must stay true to what her husband said.
  2. You are encouraged to put one of the Men's Monday Meme buttons found to the left on your blog. Just copy the code below the button of your choice. The more folks who link, the more readers you may have to visit your blog.
  3. You may answer the question any time during the week up through next Monday. After you answer the question, add the address to your post to the Mr.Linky below. If you could, please only add the direct link to the post to make it easier for readers to find the entry.
  4. My answer along with a new question will be posted next Monday. The new Mr. Linky will be added at midnight Monday night or sometime within the next couple of days after that Wink.
And here's the new Mr. Linky:

Sponsor a Child in Jesus Name with Compassion

Hey Dad's. I know today is Father's Day and you are supposed to be getting the gifts. Today, however, I've been thinking somewhat about my Compassion kids. So many Compassion International children either don't have fathers, or don't have spiritual father's that can really make a difference in their lives. Why don't you give a gift to them on this Father's Day. Be the "Daddy" that they don't have.

I know what you always hear on T.V. ~ "For just a little over a dollar a day..." or "For less than the price of a cup of gourmet coffee...". Those statements are true, but I'm not Sally Struthers (does she still do that?) or any other celebrity. I'm just a plain old dad, whose family has chosen to sponsor kids through Compassion International. But this plain old dad can tell you from experience that Compassion International works. Your money will not be wasted.

Won't you consider being a "Dad" to a child who doesn't have one (or at least have a spiritual one). If you do, I can guarantee it will a Father's Day that you will never forget!
